The Yellow House holiday villa

01-07-06We have spent other holidays in Greece and the Greek Islands, but this holiday has been the best yet.  The amenities in The Yellow House exceeded our expectations.  Thank you Jackie and Pete.            P Cook – Bristol, England

26-08-06The Yellow House has proved to be, as we had hoped, a good base for our explorations in Messinia.  We have been able to visit Koroni, Pylos, Kardamyli and Ag. Niklolaos.  The drive over the Taygetos mountains to Mystras was spectacular.  Our children enjoyed many beaches but the best swimming experience has been the freezing waters of the mountain spring pools and waterfalls at Polimnio Gorge.  Each day we have appreciated the returning to the facilities that The Yellow House provides.  Thank you for enabling us to have a memorable holiday.                                                     Christine, Tom, Robbie and Ailsa – London SW18

17-09-06Have been staying here for two enjoyable weeks and have appreciated the facilities that The Yellow House provides.  All good things come to an end, but hope to return sometime in the near future.  Thanks for everything Jackie and Pete.      Mr & Mrs V Taylor  - Weston-super-Mare, England

30-09-06A wonderful week in spite of a tummy bug and mid-week thunderstorms.  A picnic at castle of Zarnata was lovely; the tiny church at nearby Kambos is worth a visit for its frescos.  If you stop at Kardamyli be sure to walk up to the old town.  The lagoon north of Pylos is a good place for a relaxing stroll and Pylos itself is a charming little town with its French built square.  Don’t miss the old castle on the way out to Methoni.  The drive to Mystras is spectacular and worth using both the fortress gate and the main gate where you arrive.  It has been lovely each day to return to The Yellow House and relax on the terrace with our G & T’s watching the sun go down; an ideal base for exploring the region.  Warm regards.                                        David & Rosemary Bell & Barbara Greenwell – England

18-10-06Thanks for a wonderful week.  We’ve really enjoyed our stay in The Yellow House with its fantastic view.  Have seen caves, castles and gone for picturesque drives.  And of course been swimming from the beach.  But there is still much to see, so we hope to be back someday…                                                 Julie, Lasse, Mette and Ole  - Bogense, Denmark

28-12-06A wonderful week, albeit a little chilly this time of year!  We’re not ready to leave – there is so much to see in this part of Greece – so many great walks to castles and caves, lovely old villages….   The Yellow House is a lovely spot to return to each evening – what a view!  Hope to come back some day when the sun is warm, the sea a better temperature for swimming.  Thank you for your warm welcome, Jackie and Peter.  Happy New Year!                                    Kim, Denise & Julie – Canada (via Qatar)

21-03-07What a lovely week we have had staying in The Yellow House.  We managed to visit several places recommended by the guide books and we would put Monemvassia at the top of our list.  It was so nice to come home to ‘our house’ to relax each evening.  We really appreciated your kindness and generosity and would love to return some day.  Best wishes to you both.                              Tim & Nancy Blake – Ontario, Canada

21-03-07Agree with all the above- plus loved the flowers in pots in the garden – the cockerel calling the hens and the lovely clear air.        Jill Henshaw – Kent, England

4-04-07Great stay!  Lovely house, setting, view – perfect!!  Wonderful day trips.  Thank you so much!      Larry & Maryann Moss – Kerrville, Texas USA

05-05-07A lovely fortnight at one of the nicest holiday cottages we have ever stayed in.  We particularly liked Ancient Messini and the old monastery near Petralovia close to it (go around the back, where two iron doors are in fact open and you can see the monks cells and their church).  Beyond Stoupa the road between Platsa and Langadia is peppered with small Byzantine churches of which the church of the Metamorphosis is the best.  Also the village of Kastania, above Stoupa is full of Byzantine churches, and old houses on a steep slope.  Old Kardamyli at the top of the town is also worth a visit.  Excellent restaurant at Stoupa – the last on the left looking out to sea.  Thanks Jackie and Pete, a great holiday!

04-06-07Many thanks for the wonderful time and hospitality.  It was a fantastic holiday and really enjoyable.  Hope to return again sometime.       Andrea Uttley – Yorkshire

01-08-07A very comfortable and relaxing week here.  Thanks for everything.                                                                                  Jane & Paul - England

30-08-07We had a wonderful holiday.  It was a comfortable, nice and well equipped house.  We visited many places like Olympia, Napflio, Vasses (very impressive), Koroni, Plylos, Methoni …..  From the roof the view was spectacular and we enjoyed the stars every night.  Thanks                                                                           Nik & Yannic – Antwerp, Belgium

June 2008  A perfect week in a perfect destination!  The facilities offered at the 'little Yellow House'are bettered only by the unbelievable view.  We have had a brilliant week with countless trips to the beach and hours spent relaxing enjoying the sun terrace and view.  This house really is the perfect base to explore this part of  Greece with many beautiful or historic locations just a drive away.  The warm welcome and excellent hospitaility make the holiday so much easier and its a pleasure to spend time with both Jackie & Pete.  All in all a brilliant holiday that I would recommend to anyone.         Pete,Tim, Luke & Ben UK

August 2008 Thanks again for a wonderful week.  The house was fantastic and playing Rummy every evening with the wonderful view was a treat.  Olympia was amazing and Mystras superb.  All in all a great house to spend a great time in Greece.  Best wishes.    The McCanns, Germany via Ireland & Scotland

27 August-10 September 2008  Thank you for the nice time in the 'little Yellow House'! We enjoyed the sun, beach, sea, many trips in the are (villages, hills) and the wonderful view from the top of the house. Best wishes . Family Gambert- Bavaria

31 October - 22 November 2008  We had a wonderful stay in the Yellow House.  Wonderful view, convenient location - close to the city, though secluded, all the needed items in the house and the parking ... just a few of the items we appreciated.  The hospitality and solicitude exceeded our expectations.  We will be back, God willing, as soon as we can! The season was a complete (pleasant) surprise.  Thank you.   Luiza & Mihai , Boston USA

23 May 2009  The Yellow House was far better than we ever expected, it is truly 'magical'. With such a picturesque magnificent view, a wonderful, peaceful place, a garden filled with wild flowers, shrubs and brightly coloured geraniums and many olive trees.  Only the drone of busy insects, birdsong fills the air.  The house has everything you would need thoughtfully provided.  It is an excellent base to explore the surrounding area which has much to offer the tourist.    Pauline & Mervyn. England

6 June 2009  We have really enjoyed our short stay here; hope to stay longer next time.  We agree with the previous comments that the house is comfortable and very well equipped.  We received a very warm welcome.   Dorothy & Martin, Reigate, Surrey

7 July 2009  Very comfortable stay in a great location.  Loved watching the lights of Kalamata at night from the roof terrace.  There is so much to see here - where to start?  We have been five times to this area and there is till more to see.  Some highlights are:  Ancient Messini- astonishing! more extensive than Olympia.  A must see.  Archeological Museum in Kalamata, displays artefacts settlement by settlement so if you want to plan a trip, a good place to start.  Koroni - a lovely hourbour - great food at the Flisvos and a castle to explore.  So much else we didn't get to see this time- Methoni castle, Finikounda village & beach, Gytheon and Helens Island.  Great stuff, Thanks Jackie & Pete for help and advice and the loan of your little part of paradise!    Linda & Ian, Winchester Hants

25 July 2009  Here we are with the groom-to-be having his 'last meal' at the Yellow House.  Even a man marrying into a Kalamata family and familiar with the city all over loves the view.  As for the rest of us, we have - and still are having- a lovely time here.  The city and wider location is wonderful, with the location of the house simply stunning.  Jackie and her family are very friendly and have made the stay even more enjoyable.  I would recomend Kalamata to anyone.  Whether you want peace and quiet or a lively night out.  Lots to see and do or laze on the beach.  As we have found out through meeting family and friends here, its great for families and couples alike.  Avery special trip for us, made fantastic thanks to the Yellow house.  Linsay & Simon, Birmingham England

August 2009 My first trip to mainland Greece - what a treat!  The Yellow House was perfect base, really well equipped and fantastic views.  Loved Ancient Messini, Mystras, the clear water at Stoupa and especially the climb up the waterfalls and the view down to that crescent bay from the castle.  The local taverna up the hill was great too; fantastic fried aubergine and baked goat!     Niki & Martin,  Kington St Michael, Wilts

16 August -27 August 2009  Thank you for beautiful 11 days in your Yellow House.  The days rushed much too fast and it was a pity that we couldn't stay more often on the roof with its breathtaking views epsecially at evening time (sundown in a new dimension).  We saw a lot of fantastic places in this region, nice town like Plyos and Kardamyli and great beaches - most beautiful of all - the sandy bay of Voidakillia and the rocky coast near Kardamyli.  We hope we'll come back one day and many thanks for your kind hospitality. We will recommend this place to our friends in Germany.  Michael, Gabriela, Fabien & Thomas, Bavaria.

5 October 2009 Great house in the perfect location for relaxing and getting away from it all.  We had a great time and cannot think of a better place to have spent our first wedding anniversary!    Tony & Vikki , Glasgow
